Well summer struck hard and fast. I am dying. But our apartment has AC, so I will survive ;)
This week in a nutshell since I am a little out of time:
- Festa della Repubblica on Tuesday. Sort of like independence day
- A lot of less active finding, we have an assignment from the bishop so that we can clean up the ward list
- Got a cold sore
- Cold sore disappeared. #miracleshappen
- Pranzo with an English course student, he made us a DELISH risotto with bacon and apples. I got the recipe ;)
- Lots of family history! We found out that we are RELATED through Kind Edward I (Longshanks), the KING OF ENGLAND. Plus I found ITALIAN BLOOD on Dad's side!!!!!!!!!! I almost cried. We have family (like 600 years ago) from Napoli and Salerno. WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!! #italianatheart
- We volunteered at the caritas, the local soup kitchen. There are a lot of people in the community who go for a meal once a day, and we go help every Friday. It was really cool.
- Sunday pranzo with an investigator and her family. It was DELISH. And they gave each of us our own ball of mozzarella di bufala :D
- Festa yesterday, Corpus Domus or something. There was a huge processional from the Duomo all the way down centro and they were chanting "Sangue di Cristo- Salvaci." Which means "Blood of Christ- Save us".
It was a good week all in all, but today is my official 6 months (most likely) before I go home. So crazy. I don't have an official release date still because of the holidays....but they are pretty sure they will hear from church travel this week. Time in the mission FLIES.
Spiritual thought for you all: "If you are on the right path, it will be uphill." - President Eyring. Adversity makes us stronger. And it helps us change. It comes from God. And "God is a lot more interested in who you are now, and who you are becoming, than about who you once were." (Dale G. Renlund). That becoming process is hard, but Christ's grace will strengthen us every step of the way if we use all our resources to keep moving forward.
I love you all! Have a wonderful week!!!
Love,
Sorella Decker
