Here I am in BEAUTIFUL Foggia (aka the Foge), with my wonderful little companion Sorella Gates. We are already having so much fun and I can't wait to start making miracles happen here.
It was a super busy week trying to see everyone, and I didn't get to say goodbye to Marco and Noemi which was really sad. But I got a lot of pictures with all the people I love in Ostia, and I plan to make it back to visit at some point. I have attached a lot of the pictures with these wonderful people. It was hard to say goodbye to them, but I know that I left Ostia better than I found it, and that was my goal. Ostia left me better than I was when I arrived, too. It was a huge period of growth and change, and now I feel like Heavenly Father has prepared me to take on a lot more. I am excited to see what this new city will bring!
Transfers were tranquillo, took a fast southbound train from Rome to Foggia Thursday morning. I got here around noon, got all moved in, and we went to English course. The English course here is really big, we teach the advanced. There are a lot of really cool people and we just chatted, they are all pretty fluent. One of them said he would cook lunch for us this week, so that is pretty exciting!
Friday we just did planning and then made a cake for the son of one of our investigators, he just turned three and his party was on Sunday. The mom. Ada, wanted a cake and we volunteered to make it. It turned out pretty good :) We also had correlation with the bishop at his house since there is no ward mission leader....the bishop of this ward is FANTASTIC. He is so concerned with the people in the ward, with our work, and how we are helping all these people to come unto Christ. He has started a reactivation initiative in the ward to assign each member a less-active to work with, and we will be helping them meet with them and bring them back. Super cool :)
Saturday we went and taught Ada, her 3-year old son Miracle is the cutest little person. They are from Nigeria. We taught the law of chastity and she told us that "I didn’t know that white people saved their bodies for Jesus!" she thought it was really cool, and she had a really cool experience with living the commandment and that her decision to do so has helped her feel spiritual peace in her life. And the day after she committed to God that she wanted to live this law, she met the sisters :) miracles happen! That night the bishop and his wife had all 6 of us over to eat pizza. Puglese food is SO GOOD! Also, Mamma. That bread from Safeway for the bruschetta? Puglese bread? Comes from PUGLIA. And the GL makes a "yl" sound, so its "puyl-EH-zeh". I figured that out on the train to Foggia. Mind blown.
Church on Sunday was good. There is a family who just left the ward, the Wilcoxsons. They are from America! Kent, Washington to be more specific. His parents are in the Cedar River ward in the Maple Valley stake :) It was so cool to meet them! After church we helped a friend, Santina, move her baby clothing store to a different location. Literally the cutest stuff ever. It's all organic cotton from Sweden and France and such, and its really bright colors and just cute. It's called Baby Glam Foggia, and there is a Facebook page (Jessica, that's for you ;). She was really sweet, she said she would make us dinner. She is actually one of our neighbors :) we really want to start teaching her. After that we went to Ada's for Miracle's 3rd birthday party. She had killed and cooked 15 chickens and make a ton of rice, but she only has a mini-fridge. So she was trying to keep all this food for like 2 days before the party, but the rice went bad. We didn't even touch the chicken at that point. It was a strange party, but she put a lot of effort into it and we were happy to support her. The best parts were all the guys from the African camp trying to get pictures with us, and then Ada's friend put on a Michael Jackson concert DVD. That was pretty cool. But strange. We enjoyed ourselves though :) We went and did a gesso with the anziani and some ward members in the evening; Sunday is not a day of rest when you are a missionary! I am loving Foggia so much though. I am so ready to work hard here! I will probably be training here next transfer, there are a bunch of new sisters coming in.
Well, that is all I have for now, I just want to let you all know how much I love this gospel. It really is good news :) I have been studying the New Testament and sometimes I feel like Paul. I just want everyone to know that we have been bought with a price and that we are saved through Christ Jesus. It is such a peaceful, happy, beautiful thing!
Vi voglio tanto bene!
