Week 47: Silver Linings

This was a week of blessed miracles. I want to share our miracles with you all, because there have been so many of them. But before that, I found one of my favorite talks ever. It's called Psychology and Repentance. It was a BYU devotional talk in 1994 and it is fantastic. Go read it. I love it.

We got to see a few members this week, which is always good :) We taught a new investigator, Giuliana, who I met on a scambio. She is so sweet and the perfect investigator, she wants to read the Book of Mormon and she was really touched by our message. She said one of the most heartfel prayers I have ever heard an investigator offer, it was really beautiful. I love it when we find people who just need hope and love and light in their lives and we are able to help :)

We also taught Mauro again, he read through the restoration pamphlet we left and told us he doesn't believe in the apostasy, but he understood that if the Apostasy happened, then our belief in the Restoration would be valid. We invited him to pray about whether or not there was an apostasy and if Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the restoration.

We met with a woman named Maria Pia who is a psychologist, we don't know when we will see her again but we taught a really solid Restoration lesson :) Super happy to be able to talk to someone who has studied and is doing exactly what I want to. She was just such a peaceful person.

Friday is where things get a little crazy in the miracle department. We needed to go to the office to pick up 2 copies of the Book of Mormon is Malagasy, the language of Madagascar, for Heman and Ony, the couple we met last weekend. We also needed 20 Books of Mormon for a member who is an elementary school teacher, she is giving a copy to each family as an end of the year gift. She is writing her testimony inside each of them. So cool. It's actually Marco and Noemi's aunt :) anyway, had to go to the office to get that stuff, and so we headed out without realizing that the A and B metro lines were closed for a strike. So we took a really long bus (like almost 2 hours) and finally got where we were going. We sent out a good spiritual thought text to the members that we are still seeing positive effects from :) and then we got all the stuff we needed, we got to visit with the office missionaries which is just a pleasure, I love them sooo much, and then we got to catch the metro back. On our way home, we were just talking and this guy who was sitting down said hi to us in English, so of course we started talking to him. He grew up in Hawaii but he was born on the East coast, and now he is going to Penn state for his masters in architecture. He is doing a study abroad in Greece this summer and came a week early to see Rome (GREAT idea). He is staying in Ostia so we said we would meet up so that we could show him where to eat dinner. But then we parted ways and we went home and we knew that unless we hunted him down we would never see him again. So we went and hunted him down. He had told us where he was staying so we went and they found him for us. While we were waiting we started talking to these two really cool girls from British Colombia who had just barely gotten there. We all ended up going to go get fries, and we actually taught them the whole restoration lesson. But it was really cool, because at the end the two girls told us that they had been really frustrated and stuff and then we showed up and helped them and it was like an answer to prayers. We talked a lot about prayer with them and invited them to pray at some point. Then we had to go home. We didn't see them again until yesterday, but one of the girls told us that they were trying to meet up with the guy that we had met and they couldn't find him, so she decided to try and pray about it. And then she felt like they should go a certain way, and so they did and they just ran right into him! She was so excited about it, was really cute :) We talked more about praying with them and we got their addresses so we can be pen pals forever, it is super exciting.

The rest of the miracles:
  • On our way to see Herman and Ony, we met his moms good friend who told us a little bit about their family, and said we could pass by her when we are nearby
  • Herman said he would give one of the copies of the Book of Mormon to his mom!
  • President and Slla Waddoups came to our ward on Sunday! I had to give a talk on missionary work, and they let President speak at the end. He is so great!
  • Marco and Noemi came to church, even though their mom didn't. It's the first time they have come in a long time.
  • A member of the stake presidency who is in our ward heard my talk and asked me to come with him to the stake center yesterday to share it at a YSA fireside.
  • We got to see an inactive who hasn't let missionaries in since she got baptized.
So many ways that the Lord is blessing our companionship and our work right now. I think it means that I am getting transferred. We are doing so well. There is so much potential here, and I know I have made at least a little difference. We are having a ward missionary activity the day before transfer calls, so if I leave I am doing it with a bang ;)

I love you all! Have a wonderful week!!!!!
Love,

This is my most favorite picture I have ever taken. We walked down the Appia Antica on pday after we went to see the catacombs, and there was a driveway for a villa with a little Fiat driving down. It looks like a postcard
Lindsey Stirling and Dream Theater coming to Roma! :)
